>>33714455It makes sense when you see it from his view: he doesn't want to just believe everything he's told, and doesn't want to act until he has more information. That was one of the points of the first game; you can't just see things as black and white. He DOES help you later on, but that's him making a leap of faith and choosing to trust your word, and not getting too involved in a situation he doesn't fully understand.
As for why he's oblivious to Plasma's shenanigans: he mostly spends his time getting gangraped by sailors on Humilau's beach. He doesn't have time to sit and watch TV, or look up at the sky. The sky doesn't have water, unless it's raining. TVs usually can't be submerged in water, either. And people can't talk to him if they're drowning in water.
