>>40729004>The speech TM opens a whole can of worms,>And yeah, the story really made me think about class issues in the Pokemon world as well.I've thought about this stuff since the cartoon since I think you can't really help it once Meowth is introduced as a character and he is pretty much just like any of the human characters only in a Pokemon's body. Then ofcourse the First Movie goes into this some.
A subtle, and maybe accidental, touch in Love Lost is how Joe doesn't actually want to be a "trainer" or battle at all, but all the laws and customs more or less force him into it. He gets bullied and taunted into participating, laws mandate that if challenged a trainer must accept, and I get the impression that lots of services are bound up in the Pokemon league, forcing him to formally join if he wants to best take care of his Pokemon. He's arm twisted by society into being complicit, even if reluctantly so. Which is a very accurate and insightful portrayal of how any wider society or group forces dissidents into falling in line.
Now I should point out that when it comes to smut I don't like to read it for the plot as a general rule. I write smut myself from time to time and I figure it is there for a specific purpose, but, sometimes you can't help it. The Pokemon world is an interesting world to figure out and imagine taken outside of the simplified world presented in the games, or the cartoon-logic of the anime.
I linked to that "scientific view of Pokemon" yesterday because it demonstrates how interesting the world of Pokemon can be when thought about in a more serious way. It's a big challenge though.
