As much as I think deities and legendary pokemon are assholes and some of them also deserve a beat down, Archie and Maxie should have never tried to deal with powers that were beyond their compression. They were simple humans but with gigantic, completely unwarranted egos following poorly researched plans and goals with a band of rude idiots because they were too full of themselves to listen. The outcome is not my favorite (I like reformation) but it completely makes sense.
Still sad that they don't give themselves a second chance and try to find a more not-out-of-their-reach way to help the world or their community. It's one of the things I liked about ORAS.
