>>44803252It's not up-front and in your face edgy, but it's subtly disturbing. The toys that had recently been played with by both humans and pokemon conjure up visions of an 18 year old man and his animal friends playing with toys for young children. Why would he do that? What sort of life would it take to make somebody behave that way? The skate ramp covered in scratches and claw marks make you imagine all the trauma that N's friends experienced. What sort of prior abuse did the pokemon who he was allowed to interact with go through? What did the room look like when it was filled with trauma-ridden, withdrawn, hollow-eyed pokemon? How would that scene affect a young boy who's never spoken to another human?
It's a slow, subtle existential horror. It's an excellent case of "show, not tell". It goes over the heads of kids who will play the game, but older players who stop and think about it will realize what a truly sick fuck Ghetsis is.
