There's nothing wrong with liking gen 1 or appreciating it, its when you fight to the skin of your teeth and argue "well we were the ones who started with it so we know it better" as if it had the superior everything and all other gens are irrelevant.
I started off with it too but I don't flaunt it, I prefer gen 2 myself because the sprites were great and still had that nostalgic look, even if the levelcurve was bad.
