I always felt that generally speaking, these early game electric types followed the Pikachu archetype much better than Pika clones. Even though the Pika clones are obviously made for marketing. Each one is an caught early, some rarer than others. While not always optimal, they will be useful for the majority of the game.
That being said, I love the Marill line at least for being it's own thing, and it's impressing it got support over the years with the baby form in Gen III and the new fairy typing in Gen VI which made Azumarill a power house.
Emolga is also pretty fun to use.
