The head honchos behind Smogon cut their competitive teeth on Gens 1-3, where matches would last well over 60 turns and hyper offense was essentially non-existent. To them, those metas were the "gold standard" not only because of nostalgia but also because they see longer matches as a better way of determining who's the better player. The games have changed but Smogonfags want to keep the new metas as close to that gold standard as possible. These faggots should just let the meta evolve and stick to playing those old-ass gens.
If you don't believe me, go play GSC OU. Snorlax is literally at 99% usage but they won't ban it because it doesn't disrupt the stall meta.
