Growing up around then rocked, even though you'd have like one Link Cable per thirty people who played Pokemon then. Most of us were still playing Gen I while Gen II was out, since most Gen I cartridges were passed down to younger siblings. It were such innocent times. What helped too, was that Internet was this rarity for most kids until 2004-2008 or so, so you get people showing off what game rumors were true or not. I think the closest to all-around Pokemania was the early days of Gen VI, and I was in Uni by then. Feels harsh looking back knowing that that was as good it would get. Nowadays, I only come to this board for the artwork instead of getting hopes up GameFreak wouldn't be lazy bastards.
