awful minecraft overworld where everything is blocky just like RSE but looks worse because (surprise!) directly porting level design from 2002 isn't a good idea.

easily the most subjective thing but most remixes are completely lacking. from the lack of powerful brass to clapping removed from the e4 track, just sounds like shit.
the best way I could describe the soundtrack is that it sounds like what pokemon music sounds like in your head. it's completely missing the original's flair and excitement.
listen to the main title theme, it soulless as fuck and exemplifies. like a machine created song.

difficulty is non existent. this extends even to things like contests. EXP-all and handing the player a legendary does not work when your game is built around something that wasn't there in the originals. expect to be 20 levels higher than steven

introduction of mega evolutions feels ham fisted and unnecessary. neglects changes that emerald made for the better like team magma having a base not ONLY ACCESSABLE VIA WATER.
that being said the game does have its moments like the old mauville boat
