Samurott's line should've stayed bipedal and Emboar's should've stayed quadruped, no idea what the designers were thinking. At least I have Dewott though.
That being said I feel people tend to forget the reason they were some of the most commonly boxed starters ever is because gameplay-wise they were underwhelmingly boring to use in their gen: two monotypes (one of them a grass type with no movepool) and the third fire-fighting in a row.
Still think they're 100 times better than the current design phylosophy they've been using for the starters for a while, where they literally look like cartoon cereal mascots with heavy emphasis on getting across their "set personalities". Can't deny GF seems to know what sells with kids though.
Also, crazy to think we haven't had a non-humanoid final stage for 3 generations.
