>>31081761I just think the way it's all squares is bad. Having solid colors for the boxes and borders around them would probably help. The HP and EXP bars should also be shorter so the HP number doesn't overlap with it.
Basically, look at Emerald's design. You don't have to copy it wholesale, but it has solid boxes with clear borders and rounded edges. It definitely feels less "blocky" despite it essentially being a series of rectangles like in your mockup.
