But the entire reason 4chan had no archive, originally, was because it was an experiment to see what would happen if people could contribute content without ANY of that being a given.
Think about other forums. Some people get popular, and anything they post — good or shit — is taken more seriously than the new guy with 3 posts. It becomes about esteem, fame, elitism, favoritism. 4chan escapes all those traps.
