One day, the unexpected happened: a house fire broke out, trapping the brothers inside. Desperate to escape, Cain and Abel sought a way out. Though they had retrieved their Pokémon, the house's rapidly deteriorating stability prevented them using their 'mons. The twins navigated the burning building as best they could before it was too late.
Just as they were about to make it out alive, a support beam cracked and fell toward the twins. Acting quickly in a moment that would haunt him forever, Cain threw his brother into the beams path, impaling Abel. Cain was shaken by what he had done, but before he could lament his actions the flames blasted the brother from the house, rendering him unconscious...
Cain awoke the next day to find his home had burned to the ground, his brother nowhere to be found and the Mark Of Cain (which is the same as the one the Bible's Cain was cursed with) on his cheek where Abel's blood had splattered. No amount of water nor soap could wash the mark off.
Tormented by what he had done, Cain took it upon himself to seek forgiveness and redemption for what happened by carrying on the dream of his deceased brother. Travelling the lands, he went about building a team of Pokémon to assist in his goal of attaining strength to face others in battle...
