It's funny, because this is the first time I've been excited for a new Pokémon game in quite some time. With that said, the starter selection is the sole reason for that, as it has my favorite from each type. Yes, I like Emboar, and I always have. It's definitely my least favorite of the three, I don't even love it, but I like it more than the other fire starters. It was actually the first Pokémon I ever raised to level 100.
It's admittedly a little frustrating that Totodile is back, yet I won't be getting a chance to use it. I love Feraligatr, but Meganium is my favorite Pokémon of all time, and of course, every time I have the option to pick Totodile, I also have the option to pick Chikorita, which I can't refuse. I'm sure at least a few Gatrbros who also love Meganium feel the same way, although I'm sure it's not a super common thing.
