Like the double kick "animation" feels like it takes forever because it's very uninteresting, meanwhile something pyro ball is longer, but because it's actually animated it doesn't feel long.
if you know what I mean, longer animations aren't bad if they don't feel long, when I ever I use my pokemon I normally stick to is signature move because it's flashier and more engaging, while double kick makes me wish it just skipped everything and gave the damage output from the start.
