>>45898292The spawns are one of the biggest fuckups Niantic’s ever made, and they refuse to do anything about them.
Spawns are literally only dictated by events, and then you get the same 10 species for a few weeks before it changes to a different set of 10 species.
Nests are meaningless when they change as frequently as they do.
They need to tie spawns much more closely to biomes. If you live in a big city, you should almost exclusively see city pokemon like ratatas, meowths, etc, etc.. If you go to a body of water, you should see water pokemon everywhere. If you want grass pokemon, you should have to go to a park or go to a forest. Real life locations like industrial facilities and power plants should spawn tons of poison and electric pokemon. If you take a boat a mile off the shore, you should find wailords and lapras everywhere. If you live in a desert, then you shouldn’t be able to find any ice pokemon unless you get really lucky.
Right now, everything that spawns is tied to timed events. If you log in to the game, you’re guaranteed to get the event pokemon. People should have to explore and travel to catch things. Nests should be meaningful again.
And they should also just have all pokemon (except legendaries) have a small chance to spawn everywhere at all times. You should have a 0.0001% of just randomly finding a wild charizard in your backyard. They need to make this game feel like you’re exploring again, like you could find anything around any corner. Right now, this game sucks. I have no reason to walk around and discover things because the only reason I open this app is to catch whatever new spawns are from the new event, and then do something else.
If you can get nearly a full pokedex from just your bedroom (without even spoofing), that’s a problem. I should be rewarded for going out and climbing a mountain by getting a better chance to see rare pokemon.
