Illusions are one of my favorite things. Plus if you need to seem normal you can host have them illusion themselves to a human form. Not only that it can make you see what ever you want.
Plus I always have liked "It is extremely protective of those it cares about and will go to any lengths to keep them safe, including risking its own life, and it can hold grudges on those who harm its loved ones."
