God I fucking wish Pokemon ripped off Digimon. Humanoids aside at fucking least they can draw monsters, even Yo-Kai Watch stopped making goofy cartoon mascots and started making actual creatures.

At the same time though, dumb cereal mascots with bobbleheads is infinitely more marketable than actual monsters, which don't sell plushies as well.

The thing with Yokai Watch is that their older designs were pretty goofy but as the series went on they decided to actually add Monstrous designs, wheras Pokemon decided to throw away Monsters for Comedic Characters.

Pokemon has literally been Fisher Price JRPG for the last 6 years, if anything the designs are more reminiscent of Yugioh or Spectrobes.
