People's values change over time. And so does the core ethics of Game Freak. So there's no such thing as "the classic gens" in absolute terms. The classic gens we call "Gen 1 and 2" are only in relative terms, constantly changing with the times. Someday, the classic gens will become "Gen 1, 2, and 3."
