>>20686566Well, if I'm remembering correctly I got into doubles, not VGC yet, around mid-2012.
I vehemently refused to play anything but singles before that and only got into doubles just to win a local tourney where some guy I hated and that was THAT GUY who bragged like no tomorrow about how he was super duper the best in doubles and was gonna win that tourney and that everyone else had no chance. The prize was kinda good too so that was another motivation factor.
Long story short, I got gud, by some miracle got paired with him on first round and beat the shit out of him. The cherry on top was that I also ended up winning that tourney.
After that I went down the slippery slope and got more into doubles and VGC as a whole and played less and less singles as time went. So far I've not played even one singles battle in Gen 6 but I might try to get back on them with ORAS. I have a few friends I can play singles casually as they don't give a fuck about tiers and stuff and only about having fun.
