I also whole-heartedly believe that any grass type that isn't covered in flowers needs to have an autumn color scheme for their shiny. Flowery ones can have different colored blossoms. Seriously, Autumn Leafeon, Gogoat, Sceptile and Torterra would be amazing.
Generally any pokemon that's just a different shade of it's normal color is a let down. There are some exceptions, though only Toxicroak springs to mind immediately. If it's a blue pokemon, it should be some other color besides blue, unless it is a drastically different shade of blue (navy blue > sky blue for example). Normally a green pokemon? Make it orange! Usually comes in purple? Make it red! Seriously, not a difficult thing, unless you're Gamefreak.
