>>54692934>Do you seethe and mald at other fan-organized metagames and competitive scenes in other games? No, but that's more because I just don't care about most of the games that have "fan-organized metagames and competitive scenes" anymore, mainly because of the people that surround those communities. Smogon effectively sent my competitive interests elsewhere a long time ago, nowadays I just play the Pokémon games for fun.
>Are you among those that complain smash tournaments don't have items on?If I cared about Melee I probably would be frustrated with the lack of playstyle diversity, assuming what you're saying is true.
>Do you even compete in ANY games, even just as a hobby?I help run weekly Mario Kart Double Dash LAN meetups, which tend to be pretty fun. We try to get a good amount of LAN and normal multiplayer gameplay in (plus sometimes battle modes and mods) to ensure all racing formats are available to people. And of course, we always have items turned on (I prefer setting them to "frantic"). Frankly, the game would be pretty boring if there was such a thing as a Double Dash tournament with no items. It would basically be a competition of who can snake/a-tech the best, similar to the kinds of stuff you see with Melee but to a much worse degree. Items help close the gap between objectively faster karts and karts with non-speed-related advantages.
