To be honest, from a continuity perspective, the newest episode really triggers my autism.
>Ash and Pikachu are still walking after parting with Goh
>Oh wait, no they aren't, because he must've gone to Oak's lab to get Sceptile, Donphan, Noivern, and Buizel
>who were at the lab when Ash said he wasn't going to be back for a long while
>now it seems like Ash isn't in Kanto at all
>the variety of Pokemon that appeared in the forest suggests that Ash isn't in any region we know of, but a completely different land
>and Team Rocket is also there for some reason
>Latias is also there
With how specific and careful Journeys was about travelling to certain regions to see certain Pokemon, there's something a little... soulless about this new location that seems to have every single Pokemon in it. Next, Ash is going to bump into Misty in a similarly vague location, with four new Pokemon in his pocket, one of which was supposed to be in Alola.
I get that this won't bother everyone, but it just feels a bit lacking in specificity. These locations and assortments of Pokemon are giving these final episodes a sort of 'dream', or 'coma' like feeling, where the details keep getting switched around and nobody knows or says where exactly they are. The lack of narrator in episode 1 contributed to this weird feeling. Is none of this even actually happening?
