this is a really fucking good game so far

pretty much everything kek
there's a lot of little details i could have nitpicked. stuff like how giftmons require you to stuff mons into PCs + no nearby PCs, or the usual eric-ism of shit costing way too much for no real reason, but i don't think they bring down the experience in any real way.
the presentation in particular is great, I don't think I need to explain that, it's pretty clear from the first 20 minutes of playing.
this game also fixes the main problem i had with opalo, which was that game's really low difficulty and a very slow start. radical mode in this game is still pretty easy but didn't feel completely braindead, and it feels like there's interesting shit happening at each step of the plot. the cool intro, the revolutionary plot, the shit with bill gaytes, etc. the areas, towns, side content, etc. are also much more interesting overall and i didn't think they were bad in opalo, just a bit on the blander side. towns in this game feel considerably more unique from each other, the maps are less just straight lines, there's a bit more reason to revisit older areas, so on.
the story isn't perfect and i do have some issues with it but in general with these games if the story is entertainingly written, coherent, has some fun characters + the huge piece of shit characters are supposed to be hateable i'm usually not too bothered. and this is definitely i think one of the better fangame stories so far, with eric just clearly being able to run circles around most fangame writers in terms of writing a fun plot (that's also about pokemon, what a concept). it's clear there's a lot of opalo influence especially towards the end, maybe a bit 1:1 in parts but i liked what opalo was trying to do with regards to its le cosmic horror shit so i'm not too averse to it.
