Thoraxe has 490 BST. The Gamefreak counterparts are Pinsir, Scyther and Heracross, who all have 500 BST. I suggest rounding Thoraxe BST up to 500. Proposed change:
Attack 95 => 105
Because it has axes for hands after all.
Furthermore I'd like to argue giving it Tail Glow. Tail Glow is a move only Volbeat and Manaphy learn. Thoraxe is a bug type with an abdomen/tail that holds water. The tail is partly transparent and light can easily be reflected by the water. It's also the perfect type for the move, if we look at both Volbeat and Manaphy. From a gameplay perspective this is great for Thoraxe. 80 base special attack isn't high but it's usable. It doesn't have a STAB hydro pump with 100 base special attacklike manaphy so it won't hit as hard. It is also very slow so it's still not gonna sweep and is easily revenge killed. Thoraxe will get the option to go physical, special or mixed and will become a fun, versatile Pokémon to use.
The move I wish to take out for Tail Glow is Metal Sound at lvl 41. The only non-steel type that learns it is Kabutops. I see some similarities between Kabutops and Thoraxe (scythes vs axes), but I'm unsure how the sound is generated. I don't think it has to do with the scythes or anything, since Pokémon like Magnezone, Bronzong and Heatran learn Metal Sound. Also Zapdos can learn it through an event so I don't think Thoraxe should learn Metal Sound.
It only has 1 ability as of now, Heatproof. For a second ability I've been looking at Water Absorb, Water veil and Storm Drain. Considering its background I'd say we give it Water Absorb as a second ability, it seems to fit in most with the Pokedex entry (draws water into its tail).
What do you think?
