Design-wise, I'm kinda indifferent. I just want designs that look cool. Ideally going back to more monster-like designs rather than the more humanoid ones we've been getting recently.
Type-wise, I got a few ideas:
>Grass/Steel
>Grass/Rock
Ferrothorn's a wall, Kartana a sweeper, so something in the middle would be ideal
Meanwhile part-Rock is a very threatening offensive combo, would be excellent on a sweeper
>Fire/Fairy
>Fire/Electric
>Fire/Ice
All combos that are either unused or used only be a special form of an existing Pokemon
>Water/Electric
>Water/Ghost
>Water/Poison
All not-so-common typings that I think would go well for a starter
Part-Poison does mess up its resistance to Grass, but that can be mitigated
