I lead off with Umbreon vs. the Gyarados, and disable it enough with Confuse Ray and Sand-Attack spam so that Politoed can switch in safely. This pays off, and down goes Gyarados. The swarm of Dragonites emerge at this point. He manages to land a Thunder Wave, but lady luck has started favoring us and I get the freeze off Ice Beam (felt good landing that after eating five freezes in one Cyrus battle that one time). Finishes it off, and out comes Dragonite #2. It misses the Dragon Rush, and goes down to an Ice Beam. Big dog level 50 Dragonite appears on the scene, and I hope Alvarious can take a hit. I go first, and it hands on. But in a stroke of dumb luck, the Dragonite decides to use FUCKING SAFEGUARD. It dies the next turn. Aerodactyl comes out, and in a final stroke of pure luck, it misses the Thunder Fang, and dies in one Surf. Charizard is the last man standing, and you know how this matchup goes.
So we did it, we're champions. After easily the bloodiest fight we've had this whole time, I worried if we could clutch it or not, but someone was looking out for me I suppose! That or Lance took his stupid pills that day. Shadowheart has been ol' reliable and run MVP so far, but goddamn if Alvarious didn't step the fuck up in that last gauntlet. We're gonna finish out Kanto and Red, but honestly, I'm not sure how fleshed out my team will be. I don't know if I wanna burn through a bunch of encounters right at the end. We'll see I guess!
