Why do toddlers and pedophilic manchildren (champions of THE KIDS) have such shit taste?
I know "muh target demographic" and "it's a 30 minute weekly commercial for merch", but those aren't mutually exclusive to "it's mindless drivel that tries to push certain mons while ignoring less glorified ones".
If it actually followed the realistic progression of the game, where the hero only got one starter and had to capture/trade for the rest of his mons instead of always having it easy mode, I don't see how that would ever be a bad thing.
It's not like kids hate darker and edgier writing. In fact, their lack of life experience makes kids the biggest unrepentant edge lords in the world.
