According to Professor Sycamore, Mega Stones are the results of Evolution stones being irradiated by the power of the Legendary Pokémon Xerneas X or Yveltal Y. Yep, that's called a retcon anon. The anime ignored it though for the OG lore. Just like you're ignoring they created a whole multiverse, JUST so they wouldn't recon/otherwise replace their original timeline of games (Anabel and Looker being Fallers from that universe). Now we're in a land and seemingly world with no mega evolution, no-one telling us it exists in-universe either. How many times do you need to be told we're in a multiverse, before you understand they're not happening this time out, because we're in a new timeline?
