Same type combination, but near opposite approaches.
Medicham is a heroic monk that willingly trains hard both physically and mentally, who has attained enlightment and became a bodhisttava-like figure, in complete unflinching serenity, almost a deity.
Mewtwo is a scientific experiment and a victim, a superweapon that escaped from its abusive creators, that had its power and abilities, both physical and mental, forced on it and now lives in eternal anger and unstability, lost, always trying to fight stronger enemies but never satisfied. So powerful it almost seems like a deity.
I like to imagine an epic confrontation between the two, with Medicham seeking to help Mewtwo and Mewtwo wanting to fight what it thinks is just another powerful pokemon.
Gallade may have the same type combination but I don't see how it may fit thematically with Mewtwo and/or Medicham. I prefer to think of Bisharp as Gallade's rival (wish it got a mega too).
