honestly, thinking that only the two extreme of black and white exist is stupid as fuck. so stupid that I'm going to think is just trolls and reverse trolls
the traits of team aqua are very far from that of an african
so they're either tanned or brown (one of those different kinds of people that aren't white nor black, for those all kids that didn't know)
the thing is that is too much of a coincidence that all of the recruits of team aqua happen to be brown; the only explanation would be that Archie only likes brown people like him... that's a little stupid to assume
so the most logical reason for their skin color is the second one, that they're in fact tanned because they're fucking pirates, but of course some of them could be brown too in that case
in the end, I don't fucking care if tan or brown, I'm ok with both of the possibilities
the reason behind their look doesn't change at all the redesign, like other anon said on this thread
