Picked charmander first because I actually started with the show before the games and knew about charizard, but I had a change of heart before I went to Brock because squirtle was a cool fella but zard was kind of an asshole. Was very disappointed in quilava and typhlosion, but I was young and typhlosion is easily the best starter to use in game for GSC, so I just sucked it up. I do remember feeling really gipped when the rival sent out gatr for the first time. You will never know the disgust I felt when combusken evolved. Reset right there, grabbed the gecko, and never looked back. Much respect for swampert and the mega, but sceptile saved me from the nothing I'd become. The rest is self explanatory; I saw infernape early so I knew chimchar would turn out good (and it steamrolled the game), serp and gren are the only starters of their gens that don't look like dogshit, and decidueye is wonky but still slightly better than the other two.
