and to be honest i don't care for the pokeathalon as a solution to getting stones because if you don't already want to do it it's a real slog to grind points.
the safari zone is similarly lacking, it doesn't open up until after you give the medicine to jasmine (fuck you if you did pryce first) and then you have to take a test and catch a geodude, THEN wait two more hours of in-game time, unless you're dicking around that's a long-ass time. and after that wait, after you've most likely done jasmine and either the rocket hideout or the radio tower, only then can you finally properly use the safari zone.
