It also means they'll keep cutting out features and pokemon every game (despite the console being able to handle more than what they keep lying about) and forcing people to only play with new pokemon, even if they hate them. That was one of the only few things that Pokemon had over Digimon and other monster games.
If you haven't at least considered sharing your time with Digimon, I would do so now. The Digimon games are only getting better. Start with Dawn and Dusk if you want an experience closest to Pokemon imo.
