Hey, /vp/. I wanted to discuss something really serious within the Pokemon games that doesn't get talked about much.
Think about the move Attract or Captivate. Why does it only effect members of the opposite "gender"? Well, it's because apparently every Pokemon is straight. Why does every Pokemon have to be straight? That very concept makes me sick. Why should I have to conform to gender roles when I play Pokemon? It's stupid and even offensive. And that brings me to my next point. In the beginning of the game, why are you asked if you're a boy or a girl? Personally, I identify as neither. Where is my freedom to choose something else? I guess Game Freak is still stuck in the last century... Now I could bring up more issues with the games, like "female-only Pokemon", but enough of my rambling. So I propose these solutions, /vp/: A new game mechanic, similar to natures or abilities, called sexual orientation. And secondly, more options to identify with when asked my gender.
