>>25115503>>25115536Honestly the thing is that Game Freak's balancing (however much they do of it) applies towards double battles rather than single battles; this is why all the big tournaments are double battles rather than single battles. It's still not perfect by any means (and probably still worse than TPDP balancing), but it's balanced enough to the point that things like Pachirisu are actually viable and capable of winning championships. At the very least, stall doesn't exist, which is a big step up.
Smogon is trying to make competitive something the developers realized was a lost cause back in Gen 3 or 4, and to this day are still incredibly heavily focused on single battling.
>>25114791Let's be fair: SuikaP is in the same level of viability as Slaking (i.e. not even PU), and YukariP is probably NU at best if only because there's actually a huge payoff if you can get her going. But yeah, puppets are in general higher quality than Pokemon.
