Let's talk about an elephant in the room, that is to say: violence in the Pokemon fandom.
If you're a writer, how do you handle details in battle for instance? If reading is your preference, do graphical descriptions of combat deter you?
I myself try to make it semi-realistic. Recovery time and injuries that last outside of battle harken back to an era of Pokemon where things like poison would actually kill you if left untreated. I'm not a fan of gore, if it's in a scene I'll force myself to read it so long as the story incorporates said injury in a meaningful way (ie. it's not just brutality for brutality's sake).
