While I appreciate your criticism and you views and while I agree with most of you on the fact that pokemon games shouldn't be so easy, I think that most of us here are missing a simple point: Pokemon games have always been targeted to children/young audiences. What has changed over time is our perception of difficulty: back when the first Pokemon games came out, internet and youtube didn't exist, so we had to learn things by trying them out multiple times and failures were more common because of this. Most of us want Pokemon games to be targeted to a more mature audience and to be more like the typical old JRPG, but sadly I don't think that Nintendo wants to give this direction to these games. As for people claiming that HGSS or Gen 4 Pokemon games were challenging, I don't really agree, but yeah, at least these games were a bit more complex than the other ones.
