I found Gen 4 to be my favorite in a number of ways. The main one being that Platinum was the first Pokemon game I actually played since playing Red and Blue as a child. And I just found it so charming in it's own little way. The Pokemon seemed unique, and almost all of them I thought didn't look too complicated, or stupidly simple. The region was awesome, the story was amazing and the Gym Leaders were pretty neat as well. Over all, best game to date that I have played.
More recently, White 2 really surprised me as to how good it was. I thought it was going to be complete shit, but I just can't stop playing, despite the fact I beat Iris about two months ago. Still not as good as Platinum though.
