The fact that he has a friendship evolution Pokemon, and that in Platinum he reveals feelings of rage, hatred, and frustration, leads me to believe that he’s not truly emotionless, but pretends to be, because he likes to feel as though he has control over his feelings and therefore can’t be hurt again. The knowledge of his childhood turns him from an egotistical man with a God complex into an abuse victim refusing to let anyone suffer like he did. Obviously this doesn’t excuse any of his actions, but it does help in understanding his motives. He’s been driven so far to the edge that he’s decided the only way to fix the world is to start over. In summary, Cyrus is a miserable, repressed, antisocial man who has probably never had a genuine connection with anyone at 27 years old (the kind of character I’m into). Like, he walks up to you in Mt. Coronet, doesn’t even greet you, starts rambling while looking away lost in thought, then just walks away without saying goodbye. His incompetence at social interactions is endearing to me. I (<- degenerate) like hurting him.
