In spite of having the least amount of changes between generations, it felt the least stagnant of the recent games. Having a lot % of new pokemon in XY's pre-credits game and shoving gen 1 nods down our throats made me appreciate having only gen 5 pokemon before credits. Also having the villain be the last boss is something that the series as a whole should have been doing since the start.
