>>28804590Hawaiians have the whole navigated using the stars to the most isolated archipelago in the world thing, so that's a plus, but the TMT debacle was a lot of things. UH usually screwing things up somehow was basically a given, so everyone was skeptical from the start. They were kind of in a rush due to not wanting to lose the contract to Chile, but people wanted more studies done, since there are animals restricted to the cinder cone area. The Hawaiian protestors kinda overblew the whole sacred mountain part and that brought in what I can only describe as /pol/tards and science before all autists who in turn brought in the SJW's. In short, it was a cluster fuck that's currently in court deadlock with most people in Hawaii who weren't college students, contractors, or overweight Samoans wanting everyone to shut up and find a reasonable solution. That being said, there were some Hawaiians who also thought that the new observatory was great for the culture, since stargazing and colonizing into the unknown were integral to native culture.
