1) submissions were open just as long as everything else.
I submitted grill dad in a huge chunk of entries, and I attempted on dozens of occasions to spur dragon e4 discussion in-thread from the first day poison survey 1 became available, but all anyone wanted to do was bash grill dad (who, for the record, is still the best concept.)
2) no other e4 member got the opportunity for a second round of submissions even though electric finals was similarly all copypasta of the same scientist-based ideas.
just because you don't like the results and you were too lazy to submit your own doesn't mean we are going to change how we survey to please you
3) before the survey, this issue (too many options, too much copypasta, not enough creativity) was addressed ad nauseum, and there was huge support for adding an "all of these options suck reopen submissions" button to the survey, but that idea was vetoed because that's not how we do surveys.
4) the reason things got so much disapproval is partially because they were disliked (as I predicted, my early discussion of grill dad led to him getting fetishized and meme-ized), but more so because people wanted to boost their favorites, so instead of voting like for their favorites and neutral for everything else, they voted dislike for everything else.
now I'm guilty of this too, so I'm not complaining, but that's why the percentages are skewed. and yes, many of the ideas were blatantly bad and deserved dislike, but certainly not all of them.
I know my perspective is somewhat biased because I wrote grill dad and have always thought he was the best idea, but when I've complained about surveys before (with the exception of the sham dex entry survey) I've always been told to shut the fuck up and accept it.
maybe this will motivate you to actually care about your champ submissions!
