If they wasted time putting in every single one of the features in every game then the games would either be complete dogshit because they wasted time putting in meaningless gimmicks instead of more important or new features, or they would take far too long to develop to be worth the cost. Not a single game series keeps every single tiny thing that it adds in each game.
