is it cringe to entirely make up lore/write about your headcanon for something that has no real canonization beyond it simply being there? i'm wanting to write a short, kinda philosophical fic about anville town, and more specifically the melody itself/flute girl that plays it, but there's basically nothing to go off of aside from the fact that it's to "help the trains rest"
for reference, my headcanon is that the role of "flutebearer" is a traditional role passed on through her family, tasked with "putting the town/trains to sleep" every evening by playing the melody. i was considering giving the melody and/or the flute latent magical properties but that's especially cringe even by my standards and definitely goes against the narrative i'm pushing for(feelings of duty to a given role/tradition and the importance of one's contributions to the world around them, even if you can't see the effects directly).
