First of all, the typing. Ground/Steel is one of the most based combinations you can get. With eight resistances and two immunities, its pure bulk and certainly an objective improvement over Ground/Electric. Here's the thing though: Unovan Stunfisk held a unique typing that could find its way onto any Ground team. Its unique STAB combination brought something to the table for a type that usually relies on rock moves to hit fliers. But by adopting Steel as its new best friend, Stunfisk now has to directly compete with the likes of Excadrill, A-Dugtrio, and Steelix in the Galar dex. And while he is indeed the most specially bulky of all Ground/Steels... yeah... about that...
With the new form comes new stats, and as we can see Stunfisk's new stats simply switch the special stats with the physical stats. This is another unfortunate turn for the flat boi. Having higher special stats is a rare quality among Ground types, and Stunfisk trades them in for Attack and Defense stats which just pale in comparison to its competition. One might think this change was to better accommodate its typing and make for better Earthquakes, but its best Steel moves, Steel Beam and Flash Cannon, are both special. Its best physical Steel moves, by comparison, is... Metal Claw? Steel-type Infestation? That's gonna be a yikes from me.
