>>50928753I wouldn't say it was my favorite era but it says a lot when the most frequent type of thread was stuff that today is vehemently considered "normie-tier cringe" and honestly, it was back then too. I'm talking literal Facebook reposts (Facebook really was 2010s Twitter). Pokedad memes (Psyduck the schizo dad, Blastoise the based dad, etc.), the occassional vore thread, lots of horny furries (even more than there was now with twice as much roleplaying), persistent and annoying threads all of /vp/ was tired of seeing eventually getting Garybombed (was a frequent Subway Boss thread lurker until those got garybombed), having to relearn Isshu--sorry, Unova Pokemon names from Japanese to English (still call Audino Tabunne sometimes because it's an old habit), and other ordinary early-2010s 4chan threads like when Rage Faces didn't belong to reddit and Trollface was a very very frequent sight used for its original purpose (that being trolling) and not an ironic creepypasta meme. I left for a few years and when I came back to check on /vp/ for nostalgia's sake it was timed perfectly to witness the slugfucker catalogue flood. It was kind of amazing. Other than that, the only thing I can see that really changed was that genwunners were a LOT more frequent and they were fucking annoying cunts. I'm glad to be rid of them, even if I have to watch people bait about Unova and other people taking the bait with zero regard. I'd rather deal with these assholes than listen to some 90's kids cry about how things change over time.
People love to say 4chan was "bearable" back then but it really wasn't. It's just a new kind of bad, as opposed to the old kind of bad. 4chan as a whole was bad, is bad, and will likely always be bad. If anybody wants it to change, the only thing we can do is to stop taking bait jesus christ don't fucking feed the trolls it just makes it so much worse
