If you don't like M-Chomp, for example, you can still use its regular form with no problems. The same can't be said for all pokemon, though, so I can understand the '3-stage pokes only' rule for Mega Evos.
Gen 4's new evolutions were a bit of a mixed bag for me - you had some great evolutions like Roserade, Mamoswine and Froslass which looked good and are still competitively viable.
Then you've got some shitty evos like Rhyperior, Lickilicky, Mismagius and Magmortar that ruined their respective evolution lines.
I mean seriously, I never cared about Magmar anyway but why the fuck would they do that to Misdreavus
We're nearly 7 years on from DP and I'm still genuinely angry about this
