What first drew you to Pokémon, and what do you like most about it?

I was one of the many fish consumed by the Gen 1 tidal wave back in the late 90's/early 00's, partially by peer pressure, partially by the anime, and partially by the game itself.
What I like most about Pokémon, is the sheer variety of them. No matter who they are, each and every single person is guaranteed to like at least one Pocket Monster. Whether it be their design, Pokedex flavor text, how powerful they are, or a deeply dear, personal reason.
