Case in point, Dianta was just calling out attacks against Ash-Greninja. She wasn't really doing anything skillful. It was her Gardevoir that was the strong one. Same can be seen when Steven was battling Alain. What the fuck did the former do skillful in that battle? Training his Pokemon to get stronger is not him getting stronger. It's just time devoted to said to training said Pokemon
